The 5 liner

I am in a rush now as I am leaving for beijing on the 17th to the 23rd. So I am supposed to finish all of my homework now. Here I squeeze 15 words in this short paragraph.

The jubilant bedlam caused by the charlatan galvanized the whole casino and split it into two halves, the adherents of the winner and the loser. Inebriated losers, completely disgruntled, started a huge fracas as everyone threw away all decorum. A young boy, porfession being a fledgling pickpocket, kept his equanimity and exploited the situation. His avarice drove him to everyone in the fight until an obese man grabbed his hand, full of pique, and shouted

“What are you doing to my wallet?”

And then the fight suddenly stopped.

She wrote a book a borrowed from the library at Marine Parade, entitled “After”. SImply said, it is a story of how a shooting taking place 80km from our main character’s (Tom) school affected their lives. 80km is about the distance from Woodlands to Batu Pahat in Malaysia. A grief and guidance counsellor is hired. He creates more and more rules and they are harshly enforced. Both pupils and teachers started to disappear even in the slightest break of the new rules. Rules such as no red clothes and random drug testing in sports CCAs are gripping the school in the vice of the counsellor as the principal suddenly “retires”. What happens in the end?

Well the book is very interesting and I reccomend it to all of you. Now here are my 5 facts about Francine Prose:

1. Her name has the word “Prose”, which means a short writing without structure.

2. One of her novels has been turned into flim: Household Saints, 1993

3. She wrote 25 books already.

4. Born in 1947 in Brooklyn, New York

5. Some of her books have a Jewish background such as: Dybbuk: A story made in Heaven , Stories from Our Living Past and Judas: The Pious
